Learnings II

Learning’s from Movie - Heroes

Well this movie glorifies the defense personnel, their life and the sacrifice they make. Its an great honor for any Indian youth to be part of defense, and honor of country.

The movie obviously is able to make an impact, but there is definitely a catch..

It does not talk about the difference in pay of a lower and higher cadre officer or the infantry fighting on the border along with their officers.

It brings to light the income discrepancies and struggle of the families of the lower ranked infantry. This is one thing which the sixth pay commission fails to comply even now. It should not only be the brigadiers or Cornell who deserve all the fair deal and booty (at least to take care of the future cash flow for the family). Corporate should come forward to take responsibility of at least the education of the children of the defense forces who gave their life for country.

It’s not only that we contribute for Defense personnel when there is Kargil (if you forgot there was an extra cess for kargil war plus there were huge donations from across the country to fund the expenses)

CSR activities can also be done in this way. This will result in two way benifits

1) The usual giving back to society

2) This will be a good support for the dependent families of those who sacrificed who are unable to fund education for their children.

India's defense budget amount to around $21 B US, all the latest gadgets, techie stuff, engineering technology are first available for them, it definitely fascinates any graduating engineer, but yes the lack of promising life ahead stops them probably. more than 2 lakh engineers pass out every year in India how many dare to join forces, may be 1000...mere 1000..I wont call it a shame on the graduates or something like it, since i faced that dilemma too. It is probably lack of knowledge and motivation at the early stage. The push to join forces. If you ask why i didn’t join...Well i tried but failed..The physical norms set by them were too much for me..Actually i even lacked the basic info and can’t even answer the sitters they asked me about the GK..

So all those guys who have the fire and zeal to perform and most important that physical built to excel just DO IT.

One final note although a brief one which may be controversial in nature, but i am forced to mention of the honor has become cliche just because of few small tainted fish or bad apples who put own interest before country who sell their pride their 'GARV' for money and are indulged in different scams.

I would request these people (yeah no more the men in uniform but ordinary men) to kindly re-consider your decision with cool head before you take such a derogatory step.
