Google Trends

Came across this intresting feature from Google.. you can see on a timeline, and each day in history, what was the most searched word. Google trends.
It also helps companies do better SEO and plan SEM. What keywords to write in blog and what labels to attach.
Some of the key trends for Google India I am posting here..

You guys can play around and see what funny words are popular, celebrities like Salman Khan, Katrina are most popular..In Mobiles i Phone and in India surprisingly Micromax is leader.
Indian people do search cricket and irctc a lot..

One of the most unique is a website which provides free mobile content, wallpapers, themes etc.. - zedge.com

Inflation/ Price Rise really cant be tamed ?

FM Pranab says they just can control as the whole world is bleeding because of inflation and rate hikes.
But is this statement really true.. i dont think so..

Lets see a few examples...

Foolgobi - Cauliflower 1 month back touched Rs 80 per kg, and it's price was beyond  purchase of common vegetarian. Within a month same Cauliflower   was selling @ Rs 5 per kg, is this variation of 94% a case of international prices or domestic supply chain failure..
Its been again debated that petrol prices can be controlled or not..
Many websiteswebsite2 and sources confirm that almost 50% of petrol price comprised of tax.
Its again a clear case of government policy to burden middle class Indians more and more.

Rather than have differential tax slabs like China (where there are at least 8 slabs) Govt just keeping on pushing price burden to common man. To get more revenues instead of improving tax collection and taxing black money every year, govt increases toll tax. in NCR at least two times commoners have suffered (Gurgaon Delhi toll tax increase & NOIDA Delhi DND toll increase).

What amuses me, has government failed completely to collect tax, unable to find sources of revenues, people do not want to pay tax because they do not get anything in return (no medical support, no un-employment help, poor roads, pathetic transport).

There are so many ways to improve, to boost govt income, by directly increasing revenues rather than selling profit making PSUs, de regulating LPG, CNG and petrol prices. **
** Curious case of Diesel - un likely common belief, majority of diesel consumption is for business and commercial purposes.

Its really frustrating that we live in a country where all around you see in efficiency of bureaucratic system.
Examples are all around from wasting tax money in suspended failed parliament session (each day costs> 1.25 crores).
Roads are build every 4 months and still they just wash away every 2nd month. How come all around the world, roads are built with some better technology, is India really that backward?
Why the public representatives like MPs, MLAs publish their expenses online, make it mandatory for them to show where are they spending the budgets (apart from driving flashy cars and making international trips)

Alas !! well seems like am one another frustrated Indian, hmm well in deed i am..

Innovative Marketing in 21st Century

How all Marketing Channels will work in 21st Century.....Online Marketing Campaigns & Social media Markeing

Future of Deal Sites in India

We all know the way social shopping or deal sites have poped up in Indian sub continent in last one year.
Success of Snapdeal is not hidden from any one.
Today there are so many of them eg timesdeal, khojguru, mydala, koovs & dealsandyou etc etc..every one wants to grab a pie of this social buying and advertising once started by groupon (got listed recently on NASDAQ)

Now no consumer wants 10s of emails coming in inbox each from the numerous deals sites one has subscribed, eventually they will end up in spam folder.

So not all the deal sites present today will survive and eventually be dead in times to come.

What comes to rescue is the concept of social media aggregation
..
Many examples are there like google products (http://www.google.com/prdhp) nextag (http://www.nextag.com/).

Taking a cue next set of start ups are coming up in Silicon Valley, these guys have build up a platform of deals aggregation. Websites like dealmix.

This is what the website is all about
http://techcrunch.com/2011/11/16/which-daily-deal-site-are-you-this-flow-chart-may-have-the-answer/

Earlier this month, we covered a new deal aggregator and deal map entering the space called “deel.io”, which was founded by former Google engineers and one of the early engineers at HarvardConnection (later known as ConnectU), which was founded by the Winklevosses and Divya Narendra in 2002.

The young startup has since changed its name to “The Dealmix”, but its mission remains the same: Recognizing that the deals space has become chaotic, “almost to a point of annoyance”, they said, The Dealmix is trying to bring a bit of organization and simplicity to the wild and woolly deal market.

In spite of the chaos, the founders think that daily deals still have significant inherent value, and they want everyone to get the most out of deals, so the team put together this infographic which seeks to answer the question, “what daily deals site are you?” They’ve included some of the space’s most recognizable players with an easy flow chart to help you discover the right site for you. Because we know that you NEED to know.

Check it out below, and chime in with your suggestions.

Each of snapdeal and mydala are working on product development and new features. Using customer location to  help them locate deal of their choice near them.

But future is for the start up who is going to use aggregation and bring all deal sites at one place.

Hope to see a new start up in India sometime soon.

Mobile Grocery Shopping App

Came across this nice app for shopping on the go..
Although on istore, but this is the idea have been contemplating for te ecommerce site i was thinking of make as well.
Great to see there are already available products and companies working on similar ideas..

iPhone users may buy via iStore
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pushpins/id401553995?mt=8

Facebook Timeline

Facebook wil lintroduce a new feature soon, where users can go back in history and see what and when did they post, what all they do..
So facebook is sharing person's whole history and association with facebook.

It is not available yet for everyone. except developers, but its very easy to create a test app and then try this feature before your friends.

Check out process below

Here’s how to do it:

1. Log into Facebook
2. Enable developer mode, if you haven’t already. To do this, type “developer” into the Facebook search box, click the first result (it should be an app made by Facebook with a few hundred thousand users), and add the app.

3. Jump into the developer app (if Facebook doesn’t put you there automatically, it should be in your left-hand tool bar)
4. Create a new app (don’t worry — you wont actually be submitting this for anyone else to see/use). Give your shiny new app any display name and namespace you see fit. Read through and agree to the Platform Privacy agreement. This is the step you need to be verified for.
5. Ensure you’re in your new app’s main settings screen. You should see your app’s name near the top of the page
6. Look for the “Open Graph” header, and click the “Get Started using open graph” link.

Create a test action for your app, like “read” a “book”, or “eat” a “sandwich”

7. This should drop you into an action type configuration page. Change a few of the default settings (I changed the past tense of “read” to “redd” — again, only you can see this unless you try and submit your application to the public directory), and click through all three pages of settings
8. Wait 2-3 minutes
9. Go back to your Facebook homescreen. An invite to try Timeline should be waiting at the top of the page
And you’re done! We’ve seen this work quite a few times now, so it should work without a hitch for just about anyone.

Is just the marketing sufficient ?

Well As Arindam C of IIPM says, that you can give Thorns to competition and eventually defeat, guess the statement is just partially true.
Else IIPM would have been a better brand by now than IIM (which everyone knows is not true).
Guess they have to learn and know Product (in case of manufacturing or .com) & Content & Quality (in case of service).

Companies can spend crores on paid search use SEO/SEM. But unless they cant keep themselves updated they will eventually loose.
Recently Google search engine modified algorithm to increase/include weight of freshness in search results. Content (majorly dominated by keywords) already has got good weight in search results.
Its essential now for websites not just to spend money on paid search but also on keeping content fresh/ modified.
As internet penetration has been increasing and whole world looks to Indian as a country where % Inet users growth is highest search results and role of content writers would also become more important. Not just normal keyword search , but keeping blogs updated, visitors interested in website to increase time spent on site .

All internet (especially the new formed one's) know importance of this and are gearing up, investing heavily on this.
eg aaramshop.com, flipkart, myntra, infibeam all keep their blogs very updated and keep users informed about services offering, latest on their site, how they doing, latest on ecom technologies etc..
If you see their competitor of aaramshop, mygrahak.com has not invested much on this and thus is loosing as now many people yet know about the site. So I have been trying to talk to mygrahak people to make them aware of the fact and enlighten importance of  content, blogs and keeping content fresh.

So this part of my blog covers the quality or content bit, later will share some new product ideas i saw recently on a few websites.

Google Music

http://www.google.co.in/music

Well Google though late entry but now is into online music as well.
I see it as a great movie especially new / future mobile devices will have net connectivity.

Strongly believe that in future, as smart phone picks up, GPRS, 3G connectivity becomes cheaper and penetrates further, this service will be more beneficial..

You create a playlist, access google on your mobile and just play your list on cloud on the go.. in metro, station, train on way to office..and where not..no need to restrict yourself just to memory card.

Awesome services of google, its connectivity and options like "for slow connection" if added by product manager will rule the times to come..

Congratulation to google on this..

Hope to see more features being added soon..
